Supporting economic justice at the space

At Space to Breathe, we aim to make sure people who might not normally be able to access yoga can. This means keeping prices as low as possible, offering classes at different times of the day and building a community of care, where people in the space are kind and welcoming to each other. It’s not about the kit you wear or the shapes you pull in class, it’s about feeling comfortable and hopefully feeling a little better when you leave, than when you arrived.

With this in mind, we offer two community yoga days - Wednesdays and Fridays - where anyone can do a yoga class for £5. This is the same price at the City Council subsidised classes in a non-yoga specific space. At Space to Breathe, anyone can use our mats, blocks, bolsters and eye masks and practice in a beautiful, calm, light yoga space in the city centre.

We also try to keep our membership prices as low as possible, for as long as possible. Let’s be honest - nobody’s getting rich at Space to Breathe! Some members volunteer to keep the space operating by coming to assemblies once a month, or meeting up to talk about fundraising or even cleaning the space. And we couldn’t exist without this support and good will. Well, we could, but our classes would cost twice as much!

And we do this because we are committed to the idea that community and wellness should not be profit driven. We put people before profit and we are proud of this ethos.
