Emily Hartley - Yoga Teacher  Emily was first introduced to yoga by a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor and Buddhist monk whilst living in Taiwan. Having suffered with unexplained bouts of anxiety and mental unrest for many years, she came to find release and relief through a consistent yoga, meditation and Qi Gong practice. Excited to share this gift with others, she travelled to Rishikesh, India in 2018 to complete her 200-hour TTC in Ashtanga and Hatha yoga.  Now, Emily brings this awareness of the self and mind into her own classes. Her flows incorporate specific pranayamas (breath practices) to nourish and calm the nervous system, and asanas (physical poses) which aim to release tension and conflict in the body and mind.  Having recently moved back to the UK, Emily is seeking to connect with the diverse Leicester community through her practice. She collaborates with local yogis and healers to organise events and fundraisers which aim to bring awareness to some of the issues we face today. I started practicing Astanga Vinyāsa Yoga and from there I explored the other teachings and systems of T. I started practicing Astanga Vinyāsa Yoga and from there I explored the other teachings and systems of T. Krishnamacharya’s Yoga through his student Srivatsa Ramaswami and Paul Harvey a direct student of TKV Desikachar.

My interest is with the physical, energetic, mental, emotional and philosophical aspects of yoga. I enjoy exploring ideas regarding our existence, our purpose and our relationship with nature and each other. I am a keen gardener and biodynamic vegetable grower, I find this a wonderful heartfelt activity that compliments and enhances my philosophical curiosity and understanding.

I am a certified yoga therapist and yoga teacher since 2009, and accredited to teach yoga by the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) and have completed the Professional Practitioner Yoga Teaching & Therapeutic Healthcare Training Programme with Centre for Yoga Studies (cYs). I also work with the Prison Phoenix Trust who support me in teaching yoga to those who live and work in prison.

Christina is now teaching at De Montfort University, and covers here and there and wherever asked. She loves weaving yoga through her researcher’s life, from handstand breaks in the office to impromptu sessions at conferences. While living in Russia in 2014, she saw people practising what she learnt to be AcroYoga in a park in St Petersburg. Curious and enchanted she walked up to them, 10 minutes later she was flying and hooked. Now is facilitating beginner’s classes and jams in and around Leicester.
